
HOPSports is pleased to have been chosen for the second year running as a premier physical activity program written into the Building Healthy Communities Grant. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is dedicated to building a healthier Michigan by improving the physical activity levels and healthy eating habits of elementary students throughout the state. Additionally, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan encourages and enlists community partners to help elementary schools in the fight against childhood obesity. Schools proposing community partnerships have a better chance of receiving funding. 2010 Application and Review Timeline:
January 19:Blue Cross issues RFP.
February 1: Interested elementary schools must register for recommended pre-application conference call by 3pm.
February 3: Blue Cross e-mails pre-application conference call materials to registered schools.
February 5: Schools, community partners, Blue Cross and vendors participate in pre-application conference call to introduce program elements and answer questions
February 12: Schools (with community partners, if applicable) submit required onlineNotice of Intent to Apply form by midnight.
March 14: Schools submit a single e-mail with complete proposal, including supporting documents, no later than midnight.
March 15: A hard copy must be postmarked.
March 19: Blue Cross confirms receipt of proposals by e-mailing school contacts.
May 3: Blue Cross notifies grant recipients of awards.
May 18: Blue Cross begins disbursing grant funds.
