Program Focus: The Delaware Department of Education is most interested in programs that identify a group of students without access to afterschool programming (focusing on middle and high school students), and subsequently creates a program to serve that specific group.  Allowable activities include: Remedial education activities and academic enrichment learning programs, including providing additional assistance to students to allow the students to improve their academic achievement; Mathematics and science education activities; Arts and music education activities; Entrepreneurial education programs; Tutoring services and mentoring programs; Programs that provide before and afterschool program activities for limited English proficient students that emphasize language skills and academic achievement; Recreational activities; Telecommunications and technology education programs; Expanded library services; Programs that promote parental involvement and family literacy; Programs that provide assistance to students who have been truant, suspended, or expelled, to allow students to improve their academic achievement; Drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, and character education programs.

 

Eligible Applicants:  High need LEA's as identified by expanded poverty rates, or organizations in partnership therewith.


Available Funding: $50,000 - $250,000 per year for 5 years, with significant reductions occurring in years 4 and 5
