C.H.E.E.R Program

The C.H.E.E.R program was designed with assistance from the U.S. Department of Education, the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, and state educators. While there are several different character traits emphasized by various programs across the country, the Globetrotters' program focuses on Cooperation, Healthy Mind & Body, Effort, Enthusiasm, and Responsibility, using the acronym “C.H.E.E.R.”

The program targets elementary school students and involves Globetrotter players incorporating their signature ball handling skills with a “C.H.E.E.R.” basketball. The basketball includes each of the character traits printed on the outside of the ball and is used as a key tool during the presentation to each school. Globetrotter players encourage students to match their actions with those five character traits in their experiences with parents, teachers and one another.

S.P.I.N Program

S.P.I.N.™ (Some Playtime Is Necessary) is the Harlem Globetrotters’ proprietary program designed to make fitness fun and to help kids lead an active lifestyle, as Globetrotter players visit cities around the world, urging kids to get out and play.

By enlisting the help of thousands of kids and adults at YMCA’s across the United States, and families from coast to coast in their backyards and at local playgrounds, the Globetrotters established a world record with the simultaneous dribbling of basketballs, all in the name of fun and fitness.

Sponsored by Campbell Soup Company, IHOP, Spalding, and America’s Best Contacts and Eyeglasses, the Original Harlem Globetrotters are in their 83rd consecutive season of touring the world. The Globetrotters have played in 120 countries on six continents, entertaining over 130 million fans and crossing barriers between cultures, societies and people from all walks of life. The Globetrotters are one of only six teams to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
